Emily Edwards Creative launches school website system
A new easy to use, content management system ‘Content Caretaker’, designed specifically to manage primary and junior school websites, is being launched on 4th January 2010, with the offer of a free online demonstration before buying, and a competition with a top prize of a new website and free use of the system for one year.
Targeted at head teachers and their staff who have no specialist knowledge or training in producing and managing websites, ‘Content Caretaker’ was originally developed for a Special Educational Needs school, and is packed full of useful tools, enabling all types of schools to have a professional, well designed site that is quick and easy to update.
Created by Emily Edwards Creative, a digital media specialist based in Scarborough with a strong track record of working in the education sector, ‘Content Caretaker’ has already been trialed at Springhead School in Scarborough and has proved a great success.
Head teacher Debbie Wilson said: “Content Caretaker has been very easy to operate, which has been instrumental in helping to keep our website current. The ‘Content Caretaker’ team offered creative solutions to assist us in developing our website content. They have continued to support beyond going live and have responded to queries and changes promptly. We have had excellent feedback from parents and visitors to the site, and it is one way in which we maintain a positive presence in the wider community.”
Priced at £1045 for the first year, which includes hosting, telephone and email support, a tailor made design is produced for each individual school. Once the design is approved, ‘Content Caretaker’ can help the school to populate the website with information and its simple system then enables schools to update content as frequently as required.
Some of the main features of the ‘Content Caretaker’ system include:
- Editable photo gallery, where you can add photos to different galleries
- Events listing section for future and past events
- News section, with recent news and archive areas
- Calendar
- The ability to write a news article and set it to ‘go live’ in the future – useful for keeping content fresh during holidays
- Search facility, allowing visitors to quickly find the information they need
- Download facility, enabling documents to be easily accessed
- Google Analytics, which enables you to track where your visitors have come from and what the most popular pages on your website are.
- Different levels of access to the administration section, enabling different users to access and update content.
Any extra functions required by schools can be added on if needed and the costs will depend on the individual specifications.
Nick Maloney, Founder and Director of Emily Edwards Creative who developed the system, said: “How your website looks is a direct reflection of your school and we wanted to build a system that was intuitive and easy to use. With ‘Content Caretaker’, for a very reasonable cost, schools can have a professional looking site which is easy to keep up to date and can become a key tool in communicating with staff, pupils and parents.”
For more information and to enter the competition to win a new website and free use of ‘Content Caretaker’ for 12 months, email your school name and contact details to hello@contentcaretaker.co.uk by 28 February 2010.
