Science City York

Launched in 1998, Science City York (SCY) aims to drive the creation and growth of business and employment opportunities across the sub-region within bioscience, IT & digital and the creative industries.

Intandem Marketing and PR was appointed to raise the organisation’s profile with specific business sectors and the local community over a four year period.   Working with a range of different SCY stakeholders and businesses, we developed and implemented a sustained PR campaign which resulted in regular and extensive coverage in the local and regional media, including BBC television and radio.

PR activity focused on a number of different elements including:

• Development and promotion of the annual York Festival of Science and Technology.
• Promotion of individual business successes and initiatives.
• Development and promotion of a range of conferences, seminars and networking opportunities.
• Working with local schools and colleges on SCY projects including photography competitions and the launch of a Science Trail.
• Use of national and international celebrities to promote SCY activity.
• Industry comment/editorial features from SCY leaders.
